Purpose and proper understanding of your season. Part 1

Genesis 8:22 “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease”.

I need you to understand whatever seasons you are into, that you are unique and precious to God, yourself, and other people around you. The season does not tell who you are, rather how you respond and handle it says who you are especially when you are in a tough season. Do not let the toughness of the season take away your confidence and faith; it should build you and strengthen you instead. When you step into any challenging season instead of complaining, looking for sympathy or accusing your ancestors of your challenges, ask yourself this question; how will you make the best out of this season? Understand the reason for the season and that God allowed you to be there for that specific purpose, and that is what you need to find and make the best of it. It is your choice to allow it to grind you to a halt or polish you like Gold.

In addition, understand it is crucial to go at your own pace and timing.

According to Ecclesiastes 3:1-9, the competition represents a waste of time, energy and unnecessary. Competition with anyone is pointless because you have your season divinely orchestrated likewise every other person. No matter how you try to compete, compare, and contrast, if it is not your time you are only wasting time. You may possess a vision or idea of what you want to do, hold unto it, how many years you bore it in your mind is not a priority, what is important is that it comes alive at the appropriate and appointed time as written in Habakkuk 2:2-3 “Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end, it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry”.

And when it does, believe me, it will take a star shape (a million heads and branches) transmitting light, shelter, and comfort to anyone that meets it. It shines even brighter than those who mocked you and by so doing no darkness can limit you. It will speak and shine like the moonlight at night and stars in the sky.

Therefore, entertaining any form of distraction from other people should be avoided. Stay on course, nurture yours and allow it to grow into the limelight.

It is important to know that in each of your season, these seasons come and go but there is one thing that is very dominant in all the seasons, it is non-seasonal and that is GOD’S MERCY, LOVE AND FAITHFULNESS. They are new every morning, hold unto them to haul you through your seasons.

What season would you say you are in presently?

A careful look at the different seasons will help you figure out where you are now.

DRY/WINTER SEASON: from the natural point, in this season, everything starts to dry up, the plants, wells, rivers, human skin also get dry like the lips, hair follicles hands, and people tend to dehydrate hence they drink a lot, winter jackets and sweatshirts becomes the most used clothes to keep warm, then some animals go into hibernation.

This is a season in your life when it seems God has abandoned you because He appears to be silent or quiet. It is like You are far away from God or God is far from you, that you cannot access His presence anymore. You appear to be cold and dry within; you cannot hear HIS voice no matter how you pray. In your workplace, school, family, or marriage, etc. Nothing is working out for you, all the efforts you make to do or get things right makes no positive difference instead of appreciations or promotions you get demotions, queries, and complaints. Everything you undertake or have accomplished keeps drying up in your eyes even when you try putting life into your efforts it still looks bad. Like a plant as you try to irrigate it to put life to it during this season, at the last drop the soil dries up again, you keep working tirelessly, yet no result. When this is happening, most times God is saying to you it is time to REST.

In Psalm 37:7-9, “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the LORD, They shall inherit the earth.” And in Psalm 37:18 “The LORD knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever.” God could be saying, have a chill and get recharged, relax, and get warmed up for seasons ahead. It does not mean God has forsaken you or your prayers are not being heard. It does not mean you are not working hard.

This season is merely saying to you consider a time off, cease the struggle and chase, have a rest. And at this point, no matter how active you are as a person, you must listen and enjoy your spiritual winter in Christ not outside of Him. Hibernate in Christ else you stress yourself out and if you allow this to happen the aftermath will be depression.

Furthermore, it is necessary to examine yourself as well. According to 2 Corinthian 13:5 “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless indeed you are disqualified.” Most times we generate season untimely because of our actions, and you begin to see yourself in winter when you are to be in spring. When you have checked all is well on your side, then Rest. God may be putting you on hold, He is saying to wait. Therefore, do not put a period where God is placing a comma and do not hang up if God is putting you on hold. Be wise.

AUTUMN/FALL SEASON: This time of the year trees naturally shed their leaves and streets are littered with fallen leaves; you observe trees standing without leaves on them and the autumn leaves are not green as usual, changes from green to dead brown mixed with red, yellowish colours. All the nutrients in the leaves get sucked into the root. The above natural occurrence also presents itself in our lives as humans. It is a season where so many things you hold dear to and worked hard to achieve begins to slip away from you.

As a parent, it could be a season where your nest is being emptied, some for an honourable course and others for in an awkward manner. The children left with you in the house are beginning to give you some challenges, you cannot nourish them anymore, all your efforts to train them seems not to be yielding any results, they are exhibiting with varieties of unpleasant behaviour which is affecting you and neighbourhood as well. It is a time where certain things you are clinging to though they are less important to you and do not add any value in your life anymore have to go. These could be in the form of friendship or relationship, a type of lifestyle, a particular job, a thought, or behaviour exhibition you possess.

It is vital to know that sometimes most people or things you allow to stay longer in your life were meant to be messenger/s that delivers a message and go, they are not destined for keeps but you decided to keep them even when their time to stay around you or in your life has expired. When this happens, they will be of no use to you anymore and begin to hurt you, most time you are aware of the harm they are causing yet you refused to let them go.

This is a season of stock-taking, check yourself and around you. What are those things you need to forego? Allow them to FALL off, you need to let them go. God is saying it is time. This is a season to let go. If you keep holding onto these things, it will cause you more harm than good. Remember, the leaves that were left on the tree during this period are not green but a mixture of colours, because its’ time of being useful to the tree is gone and falling off would have been better for the tree, but it lingers there, making use of the nutrient in the tree which is needed for preservation for the next season.

More so, if you do not let them go your next season or level may not come or be delayed. You cannot put old wine into a new wineskin, as confirmed in Mark 2:22 “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”

This season depend on God, even if the person or thing you are letting go of is the only thing you have left in your life that God will have your back, He will not let you live in isolation like a tree without leaves thereon.

The big question right now is, what is it that you must let discard? Is it unforgiveness, hatred or pride? Let them go. Is it that friend or companion that is crippling you so badly and is not adding any value to your life, allow them to go? Is it that illegal business or money? It may be yielding money, but you do not have peace of mind, let it go. For instance, I know of someone who falsely claimed insurance money, but after the money was paid, we met, and he got saved and foregoes the money, he decided to return the money in the end he had peace of mind. Do not hold unto what must go, let them all fall, and your new season awaits you.

You may think you have lost them, but the truth is, if you hold unto God’s faithfulness, mercy and love instead you will realise nothing was lost significantly you gained. God is preparing something even better than that. You must let go and secure space for new things; God is trying to save and heal you from the hurts and wounds inflicted on you while you were holding on tight, Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” Your season of recovery and restoration beckons on you beloved.

To be continued.

The last part of this topic will be posted next week, I encourage you to check it out. Hope you are blessed with this.
